Leaving on day 1
Maybe you can’t tell, but at this point we're very nervous. 😂 OMG who thought this was a good idea?
We’re travelling around the US and back through Canada from March 11 until, hopefully, late June. We hope you enjoy some pics and stories about our adventure!

Waving a slightly bitter-sweet goodbye after we board the Black Ball Ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles. Excited to get going ... though Nano's looking backward, still pretty nervous, poor guy.
Campgrounds on this leg ranged from ritzy to humble and from snowy to balmy. Click here to see a selection!
This is the river Evel Knieval tried to jump over, didn't make it. Now people jump off it wearing parachutes. Gave Avery vertigo just to think about it!
We finally get to do a little bit of hiking as it warms up in Kanab UT, close to the Arizona border. Our next trip will include the breathtaking parks in this area! Below is the view we had from our campground!
We have a little section called "About Us." A few more pictures of Nano (how surprising), Opal, Peter and Avery. Click on this paragraph to get to that page if you feel inclined!
Saguarus are incredible! They grow only one place in the world, the Sanoran Dessert, even though they look like our stereotype of cactuses generally. They grow slowly — it takes 15 years for a saguaro to grow two inches! Only mature saguaros grow arms like these. They seem alive and expressive and, from what we heard, were considered sacred within the local indigenous cultures.
First view, ever. Magnificent. Only saw a peek of this 225 mile wonder.
Peter and buddies on a hike just outside Phoenix. Hot day!
